Darren Elkins vs. newcomer Edson Barboza planned for UFC 123 event

Undefeated Brazilian lightweight Edson Barboza likely will serve the first obligation of a multi-fight deal with the UFC when he meets Darren Elkins at UFC 123.

Sources close to the event informed MMAjunkie.com of the matchup Wednesday evening and said at least one of the fighters has already agreed to the proposed contest, though bout agreements have yet to be distributed.

UFC 123 is expected to take place Nov. 20 at The Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit. A light heavyweight match between former champions Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Lyoto Machida headlines.

The UFC's return to the Lone Star State required a bit of creativity from the company's matchmaking department, but all is now complete less than a week before the show.

A long-rumored matchup between Yves Edwards and John Gunderson is now official for the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 22, and the event is now complete with 10 bouts.

Featuring a main event between middleweight contenders Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares, UFC Fight Night 22 takes place Sept. 15 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

A lightweight showdown between Tyson Griffin and Nik Lentz has been targeted for UFC 123.

MMAjunkie.com learned of the bout, which was first reported by MMAWeekly.com, on Wednesday evening from sources close to the event who said verbal agreements were in place with paperwork on the way.

UFC 123 is expected to take place Nov. 20 at The Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit, though the promotion has yet to officially announce the event.

Clint Godfrey returns at WEC 52, meets newcomer Michael McDonald

While a MRSA staph infection in his right knee forced bantamweight Clint Godfrey out of September's WEC 51 event, he's not taking long to reschedule his return.

MMAjunkie.com has learned that Godfrey and WEC newcomer Michael McDonald have agreed to fight at WEC 52.

Bout agreements for the contest are expected to be finalized shortly.

Shine Fights has finalized matchups for its lightweight grand prix set to take place Friday at the First Council Casino in Newkirk, Okla.

Eight competitors will do battle in the single-night tournament: Kyle Baker, Charles Bennett, Dennis Bermudez, Richard Crunkilton, Drew Fickett, Shannon Gugerty, Carlo Prater and James Warfield.

The pairings were revealed Wednesday evening by Shine Fights COO Jason Chambers.

LEMOORE, Calif. - MMAjunkie.com was on scene for today's "Tachi Palace Fights 6: High Stakes" official fighter weigh-ins in Lemoore, Calif.

Today's weigh-in ceremonies took place at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, the same site as Thursday night's GoFightLive.tv-broadcast fight card.

Main-event competitors Kyacey Uscola and former WEC light heavyweight champion Doug "The Rhino" Marshall, who meet in a middleweight special attraction, made their bout official, while Tachi Palace Fights middleweight title contenders Anthony Ruiz and Leopoldo Serao did the same. In fact, all 18 fighters on the card - including big-show veterans "Razor" Rob McCullough, Corey Hill, Diego Saraiva and Micah Miller - all made weight on their first trip to the scale.
