Episode No. 3 recap: “The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights”

Welcome to MMAjunkie.com’s recap for episode No. 4 of “The Ultimate Fighter 10.”

The heavyweights-only season of the reality show, which features former UFC champions Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson as coaches, airs each Wednesday (10 p.m. ET/PT) on Spike TV and features 16 UFC hopefuls.

“The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights” episode No. 3 discussion thread

The third episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights” airs tonight on Spike TV at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

This one’s a big one as two of the show’s biggest names – former EliteXC headliner Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson and IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson – square off in a highly anticipated opening-round matchup.

Edgar Garcia vs. DaMarques Johnson in the works for UFC 107 in December

Welterweights Edgar Garcia (7-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and DaMarques Johnson (9-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) have agreed to meet at UFC 107.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com was the first to report the matchup, and
MMAjunkie.com has since confirmed from sources
close to the contest that both fighters have agreed to the matchup and
bout agreements are expected to be signed shortly.

Though not yet officially announced by the organization, UFC 107 is
expected to take place Dec. 12 in Memphis, Tenn., and feature a main
event between lightweight champ B.J. Penn and challenger Diego Sanchez.

Three Added to UFC 106 Card on November 21st

An Ultimate Fighter winner, two knockout artists, and a “New York Bad Ass” have been added to November 21st’s UFC 106 card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, adding even more firepower to the event which features the heavyweight title fight between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin and the return of Tito Ortiz against Mark Coleman.

Vitor Belfort says he’s verbally agreed to bout with Anderson Silva

The potential UFC middleweight title fight between current champion
Anderson Silva and fan-favorite Vitor Belfort appears one step closer
to reality.

Fighters Only magazine has translated an interview from
Portuguese-language website Terra.com.br with Belfort, and “The Phenom”
says he’s verbally agreed to the bout.

The Los Angeles Times first reported the potential UFC 108 headlining bout and cited UFC president Dana White as confirming the news.

Strikeforce’s Daniel Cormier discusses MMA debut win, drop to light heavyweight unlikely

Daniel Cormier’s professional debut at this past weekend’s “Strikeforce Challengers” event was successful – even it wasn’t pretty.

But no one is going to be more critical of the fighter than Cormier himself, who on Monday joined MMAjunkie.com Radio to discuss his Showtime-televised win over fellow MMA newcomer Gary Frazier.

“I’ve got to learn this sport,” the former U.S. Olympian joked. “I really have no idea what I’m doing.”

The long-awaited fight is finally here.

to the UFC octagon for the first time.

Joe Lauzon and Sam Stout to meet in UFC 108 lightweight bout

Following an ACL injury and knee surgery earlier this year, Joe Lauzon (18-4 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will return to action in less than a year when he meets Sam Stout (14-5-1 MMA, 3-4 UFC) at UFC 108 in January.

Sources close to both fighters confirmed with MMAjunkie.com that bout agreements have been distributed for the rumored match-up and will be finalized shortly.

Although not officially announced, UFC 108 takes place Jan. 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and airs on pay-per-view.
